Civil War Roundtable Lecture
September 19 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The Civil War Roundtable of Fairfield County, in cooperation with the Stamford History Center, presents:
Topic: A. P. Hill at Antietam
Speaker: Patrick Falci
Date: Tuesday, September 19, 2017
Lee’s Army was in a precarious position late in the day of September 17, 1862 as Burnside threatened to drive the Union forces from the field. Only A. P. Hill, marching from Harper’s Ferry, was in a position to avert this disaster. Hill arrived at precisely the right time and place to save the day. Lee never forgot Hill’s timely intervention and on his death bed uttered among his last words: “Tell A. P. Hill to come up!”
For 25 years, Patrick Falci has been the face of General Ambrose Powell Hill. He spent 15 years as a reenactor with the 14th Tennessee – Archer’s Brigade, Hill’s Light Division. Pat created the role of General Hill in the movie Gettysburg and was the historical advisor to director Ron Maxwell, as well as best-selling author, Jeff Shaara. Among his many achievements, Pat served as the 3 time president of the Civil War Round Table of New York and has been a guest speaker all over the country.
The CWRT meeting will feature an expanded raffle of Civil War books, thanks to a generous donation by the late Gregory Piontek of North Haven, CT. Greg was a dedicated student of the Civil War and a scholar in his own right. He will be greatly missed by the Civil War community.
