Photo Archivist's Selection of the Month: June 2003

A Family Photo Album

The Isaac and Franklin Wardwell Family Photos

The family explained This is a complementary issue to the January 2003 selection. As we saw then, Franklin Wardwell was very interested in good photos. A number of photos below, many of them taken around 1900, show the eye of either a gifted amateur or a professional photographer.

Most prints we have of the above were made from glass plates at a much later date by Society volunteers. The plates may have deteriorated by then: Some of the prints are not very good and required a lot of editing for this page. Some flaws could not be edited out.

This explanatory sheet was with the photos.
